We were blessed with phenomenal weather, enthusiastic visitors, and extremely creative artists at the First Annual Art in the Park Day at Mouth Park. This event, organized by Friends of Mouth Park, was a casual day of exploring, enjoying, and selling paintings, sculpture, poetry, pottery, jewelry, digital designs, sketches, quilts, tie-die fashions, wood burning, and other creative pursuits while enjoying live music performances by Elizabeth Cassidy and by Paul DiSalle. Visitors also enjoyed playing with the drums, rattles, and other music-makers at Dianne Emiry's World Instruments Musical Zoo.
While most visitors were there for the art, some frolicked on the beach, a few dared an autumn swim, and fisher people dipped a line in the Spanish River. Children explored the shoreline, built sandcastles, played pirate, and painted, while students at Espanola High School found shady tables or the bases of trees to sketch, partly for the joy of it and partly to earn community service hours needed for graduation.
The day was such a resounding success that there is little doubt that Art in the Park will become an annual event! Save the date: SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 17, 2022 at Mouth Park in Massey.
Hello Friends of Mouth Park! We want Mouth Park to be as accessible and safe as it can be and, on August 21st, 2021, ten volunteers, including five kids and five adults, worked hard for a few hours to clean out all the overgrowing grass, soil, and leaves. The stairs are now level and safe!
Let us know you're coming or just show up! We will have a wheelbarrow, two shovels, and some buckets but if you have a spade, please bring it! If you couldn't attend but want to join the Friends of Mouth Park, visit: https://www.mouthpark.com/how-to-help.html
